042- Compagnie du Port, des Quais et des Entrepots de Beyrouth and the Societe Radio-Orient (France vs Lebanon)
On February 13th, 1959, France filed an application instituting proceedings before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Lebanon concerning certain measures taken by the latter affecting two French companies. The applicant considered that those measures were contrary to certain commitments resulting from an agreement concluded between France and Lebanon in 1948. Lebanon raised preliminary objections.
However, the parties found a diplomatic solution to this conflict. France therefore wished to withdraw. The Court struck the case off the roll by an order of August 31st, 1960.
