037- Aerial Incident of 27 July 1955 (UK vs Bulgaria)

On November 22nd, 1957, the United Kingdom filed an application instituting proceedings against Bulgaria before the International Court of Justice (ICJ). This motion was related to the case 035- Aerial Incident of 27 July 1955 (Israel vs Bulgaria).

Indeed, British passengers were on board the plane that had been destroyed by the Bulgarian air defense. The United Kingdom requested the Court to declare that Bulgaria was liable for the losses suffered on this count and to give reparations.

However, taking note of the ICJ’s decision in the case between Israel and Bulgaria, the United Kingdom decided not to pursue the proceedings. As a result, the case was struck from the roll by order of August 03rd, 1959.
